September 3, 2026Radiologists at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) can do something amazing: with the help of state-of-the-art equipment, they can see patients from the inside out, allowing other physicians and care teams access to valuable information that improves the care we provide Veterans.
With their unique skill set and dedicated mindsets, radiologists are the bridge between diagnoses and treatment, enabling the highly personalized care Veterans come to VA to receive.
A valuable expertise
From capturing images on state-of-the-art equipment to collaborating with clinical teams on the proper treatment, radiologists at VA play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to those who served our nation, and the value of this expertise only continues to grow.
As technology continues to improve, this allows our teams access to quicker and more efficient imaging. These advancements in technology can provide a detailed and comprehensive look at what is going on with a Veteran at that moment, enabling quicker and more detailed diagnoses.
“My work as a radiologist directly supports the care Veterans receive,” said Dr. Kavita Sangvhi, a radiologist at the VA Medical Center in Lebanon, PA. “I help physicians make accurate diagnoses and guide treatment decisions. I also perform image-guided injections to help manage pain. My providing timely, high-quality care contributes to both better health outcomes and an improved quality of life for our Veterans.”
A rewarding mission, with benefits
Working at VA is more than just a job. It’s a career of caring for the Veterans we help heal every day.
“I have the opportunity to care for and give back to Veterans who have served our country,” said Dr. Sangvhi. “I truly enjoy hearing their stories and learning about their experiences.”
In addition to a mission that matters, VA proudly offers a comprehensive benefits package, which includes competitive compensation, health, dental, and vision coverage that may be continued into retirement, as well as generous personal and sick leave.
